The South Doyle band is proud to represent the South Knoxville community and continues to build on the foundations of musical excellence provided by our predecessors at South, Young, South-Young and Doyle high schools. While the halftime shows on fall Fridays are perhaps our most visible performances, they are, in reality, just a small portion of our band each school year. The marching band also performs in competition, exhibitions and parades. The concert band performs in seasonal concerts and festival competitions. The band also has played for other area schools and community events. In addition to our group performances, individual members of the band consistently are recognized in regional and state clinics. Many of our students will utilize the teamwork and leadership skills developed in the band as they pursue music and other subjects in their collegiate and professional careers.
The South Doyle Band Boosters Association has previously led successful capital campaigns in recent years to purchase uniforms, instruments and equipment. but the biggest ongoing challenge facing the program is one of logistics.
Our aggressive performance schedule requires substantial resources to safely transport our equipment and our members to the various venues. Any proceeds from this contest will be allocated to our transportation budget to help insure that we continue to perform to the highest standards while representing South Knoxville.
